Jonathan Zepp

Associate Principal Bassoon

A native of nearby Silver Spring, Jonathan is a freelance bassoonist playing across the greater Baltimore-Washington metro area and is private instructor of bassoon. He holds an Artist Certificate from the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance, a Master of Music from the The University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Maryland School of Music, studying primarily under Marita Abner, Kristen Wolfe Jensen, and Sue Heineman. He has played in masterclasses, festivals, and competitions across the US and Canada and has performed publicly in more than ten states, three Canadian provinces, and seven countries. In addition to solo and large ensemble performances, chamber music has been a focus of Jonathan's study and interest, as a former member of the UMKC Graduate Fellowship Woodwind Quintet and UMD's Chamber Music Connections Quintet, and is a regular performer with the Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra. He has enjoyed playing a huge variety of music in equally varied ensembles and is always listening for new works, new combinations, and new styles to stand alongside the greats.
