Julia Perry

Associate Principal Oboist

Julia, a native of Charlottesville, Virginia, is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Oboe performance at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, studying with Katherine Needleman. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and Music Performance from Ithaca College, where she studied with Dr. Paige Morgan.

As an avid teacher, Perry enjoys guiding students of all ages and levels through the challenging and rewarding experience of playing the oboe. Whether teaching in a private lesson setting, at the Summer Residential Governor's School for Visual and Performing Arts, or in a full band class, Perry is able to quickly focus on the needs of each individual in order to tailor the lesson to the student’s specific needs. In addition to her experience in educational settings, Perry has performed with ensembles and festivals across the east coast, including the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra, Charlottesville Symphony at the University of Virginia, Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, Bach In Baltimore, and the Heritage Theater Festival.

Symphony Number One is Baltimore's Newes Chamber Orchestra, devoted to substantial works by emerging composers.
