Karena Ingram

DIRECTOR Of Composition

Karena Ingram is an emerging contemporary composer based in Baltimore, Maryland. Beginning her musical career at the age of nine, with self-teaching in violin and music theory, she is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in music composition. Her chamber ensemble works have been performed regularly throughout the Baltimore area, most notably as a part of the Livewire New Music Festival. Her solo works have also been recorded and performed by international instrumentalist, like flautist Iwona Glinka. Ingram has also been a member of Octava, developing interactive program notes to enhance the symphonic listening experience. She is also the 2016 recipient of Symphony Number One’s Maryland Award for composition. Described as “…stunning” and “…beautiful musical depictions of nature…” by Symphony Number One, Ingram’s music is reputable for its imaginative use of color and textural exploration.
