JoAnna Cochenet

 

JoAnna recently served as Conductor of the Northeast String Orchestra and Music Director at a church in upstate New York. Previously, she worked with the Omaha Area Youth Orchestras in Nebraska, serving as a conductor for the Prelude Strings program, and as Artist Faculty at the Omaha Conservatory of Music. Cochenet has been Guest Conductor and Clinician for several All-County, All-City String and Symphony Orchestra Festivals.

Cochenet has participated in conducting workshops with teachers Thomas Wilkins, Markand Thakar, Diane Wittry, Harold Farberman, and Leon Botstein. She studied conducting with Margery Deutsch, Dr. William Carson, and Richard Hoffman. As a violist, Cochenet has performed with the Omaha Symphony, Rangbrook Ensemble, and Red Cedar Chamber Ensemble. 

She holds an MM in Orchestral Conducting and Viola Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a BM in Instrumental Music Education and Performer’s Certificate in Viola from Coe College. Cochenet continues to teach, perform, write, give lectures, clinics, and master classes. She currently serves as a string instructor at Levine Music in Washington D.C.
