We are pleased to announce our third Call For Scores! Winners will be chosen for performances to take place during our 2017-2018 Season.

Here at Symphony Number One, we vigorously promote the composition and performance of contemporary music, especially by emerging composers developing their careers. Selected composers will be invited to write a new work for chamber orchestra and chamber ensemble to be rehearsed, performed, and recorded during the 2017-2018 season.

Three winners will be chosen; the three works will be programmed, one each, across two concert cycles of Symphony Number One's 2017-2018 season and one concert in SNO’s Beethoven’s Kitchen (chamber music) series.

A number of additional opportunities for career advancement may be possible. For example, recently featured composer Andrew Boss received a substantial review full of praise in the Baltimore Sun. In another instance, composer Jonathan Russell had his music featured in a new international music and innovation festival, Light City Baltimore, in April 2016.
